About Noah's Ark

Noah’s Ark is the chief ministry of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) and is staffed entirely by volunteers (women and men) from Saint Michael and All Angels. ark sign

It all begins with our wonderful donors who contribute their gently used clothing, knick-knacks and smaller furniture pieces to Noah’s Ark. The back room is a place of community and fellowship.  Lasting friendships are made. Side by side volunteers sort through bags and boxes of gently used merchandise and prepare it for sale. Our men work tirelessly checking the appliances and assisting with the furniture.

Our customers come from both on-island and off-island. Visitors to Sanibel make it a point to include a trip to Noah’s Ark in their plans. Anything can be found at the Ark – if it is donated and in good order, it is offered for sale. Whole wardrobes can be accumulated; houses can be furnished; Halloween costumes and life-like Christmas trees can be found. It is truly a miracle and the miracle takes place daily at the Ark.

Most of our profits are donated to charities identified through applications submitted to the St. Michael's Grant Committee (See Outreach page for more details.) Grants are made to benefit local, national, and worldwide needs. We have been able to support: Abuse, Counseling and Treatment (ACT), AfriAid, All Soul's Episcopal Church, Alliance for Fair Food, Common Hope, Community Cooperative Ministries Inc. (CCMI), Community Housing Resources (CHR), Educational Concerns for Hunter Organization (ECHO), Friends in Service Here (FISH) of SanCap, Gladiolus Learning & Development Center (GLAD), Guardian ad Litem Foundation, Habitat for Humanity (Lee & Collier County), Harry Chapin Food Bank, Human Trafficking Awareness, Lighthouse of SWFL, Literacy Council Gulf Coast, Our Little Roses, Partners in Breast Cancer Care; Practical, Academic, Cultural & Educational (PACE) Center for Girls, South Fort Myers Food Pantry, Mission Peniel, Valerie's House, and World Vision.

Dear Lord,

We thank you for the miracle that is Noah’s Ark.  It allows us to be generous to those less fortunate, and allows us to be generous in friendship to each other and to our customers. Give us grateful hearts, help us to be kind, bless us as we do your work.

We ask this in Jesus’ name.
