Sunday School/Christian Formation

by Fr. Bill Van Oss

I know that we would all like to see children going up the aisle of our church leading the Sunday procession.  We would like for them to be making their way to our beautifully renovated Sunday School room, where they would pray, sing, hear Bible stories and learn about God through teaching, praying, interacting and fun activities.  But these are not normal times.  We do not want to be taking risks with our children and adult volunteers, so we are delaying the start of in-person Sunday School.

What we will offer until we are able to gather again is online Sunday School.  Each week we will record and send a session that will include a song, Bible story, lesson, craft or activity and prayer.  We want to make this a fun and engaging Christian Formation opportunity.  You can find the link for this week’s session here.

To receive the link in your inbox each week, you can sign up by calling (239) 472-2173 or emailing Wendy.  You can also request a seasonal fun box with the crafts and activities for you and your children.

GRANDPARENTS: feel free to send the link to your grandchildren and then join them via Zoom or Facetime for the sessions!  This would be a great way to connect and grow in faith together.

This pandemic has been a challenge in so many ways.  We want to do our best to provide resources and opportunities for young and old alike to know that we are loved and cherished by God and to grow in our faith.

Peace,

Moving Forward Updates from Fr. Bill

By Fr. Bill Van Oss 20 Dec, 2023
Today's Excitement Dear Friends, Today was a day to celebrate! LCEC trucks arrived to install the new meter and energize it so the new HVAC system in the sanctuary can be started up! Then a couple hours later, we passed the City of Sanibel final inspection and we were given the Certificate of Completion; the final step in our permit process which started last May. We are very grateful to Councilwoman Holly Smith, City Manager Dana Souza and all the city and LCEC employees who assisted in these final steps and of course to all the FP workers and their subs for all their hard work these past several months and the Property Restoration Team; the working group was there to receive the good news today. We are very busy getting the spaces ready for opening weekend starting with our 4th Advent services this Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 8am and 10:30am (livestreamed). Then we will have 3 Christmas Services at 4pm, 8pm (livestreamed) and 10:30am. Thanks to the volunteer teams who have been washing dishes in the kitchen, putting books on the bookshelf, hanging wreaths and a 100 other details. It is a stunningly beautiful space and we can't wait for all to experience it again for the first time in 15 months! Bill +
