A Summer Long Celebration of

Spreading the Love and Spirit of Sanibel

Love Sanibel Back is back for a second summer; a community initiative to uplift and spotlight the local businesses that form the heart of Sanibel. Each week we highlight a group of businesses and encourage everyone to support them while having fun connecting with new friends and old at featured gatherings to foster our sense of community and belonging. This initiative is an extension of St. Michael’s overall mission which as Fr. Bill Van Oss explained, “is to encourage one another in our daily lives to act in ways that show everyone they are loved, equally valued and belong.”

This summer we will be traveling across the island from the East End to the West End and finishing up in Captiva. It will continue through August, with a culminating Love Sanibel Community Gathering on Sunday November 2 from noon-3pm at The Community House.  Check out the weekly schedule below.

St. Michael’s is grateful for the support of The Charitable Foundation of the Islands for a $5,000 grant from the Hurricane Recovery Fund and their in-donation of social media services and to the SanCap Chamber of Commerce for their collaboration.

Love Sanibel Back 2025 invites everyone who cherishes our beloved islands to join forces in this movement and once again show our love, gratitude, and support for the people and businesses that make our islands so special. #LoveSanibelBack2025

Let’s spread the love—one week, one business, one island neighborhood at a time.

The origin of “Love Sanibel Back”

Linda Linsmayer, a member of St. Michael’s Community Engagement Team, shares her thoughts on how the words Love Sanibel Back came to her:

Love Sanibel Back is far more than a marketing slogan: it’s a longing that seems to resonate with all of us. So it’s probably no surprise to learn the words Love Sanibel Back were a direct response to my personal prayer after Hurricane Ian, when we were all fearing we may have lost our community forever.

That’s when the three simple, powerful, compelling words were placed in my heart “Love Sanibel Back”. Love Sanibel Back answers the question: now what? We can express our gratitude for being in a loving community by supporting the business owners who have elevated the quality of our lives.”

At this point, I think it is safe to say, we all long for our beloved island home to be fully restored to its previous splendor, but we now have an even greater, deeper love for one another and our community because of what we have collectively gone through and are triumphing over together.

We share something truly extraordinary. When we cross that bridge, we feel it: we exhale with a deep sigh of relief. It’s the sigh that signifies we’re home, whether you live here or not, you feel it. Sanibel is where we all know we truly belong, where we are loved and valued. That’s the spirit of Sanibel: it’s a spirit of love that is palpable, that lingers in the air. Let’s Love Sanibel Back together.”

With Love and Light, Linda Linsmayer,

Founder of "Love Sanibel Back"

We thank Linda for sharing her vision of how we can all continue to Love Sanibel Back!
