Linda Linsmayer, a member of St. Michael’s Community Engagement Team, shares her thoughts on how the words Love Sanibel Back came to her:
Love Sanibel Back is far more than a marketing slogan: it’s a longing that seems to resonate with all of us. So it’s probably no surprise to learn the words Love Sanibel Back were a direct response to my personal prayer after Hurricane Ian, when we were all fearing we may have lost our community forever.
That’s when the three simple, powerful, compelling words were placed in my heart “Love Sanibel Back”. Love Sanibel Back answers the question: now what? We can express our gratitude for being in a loving community by supporting the business owners who have elevated the quality of our lives.”
At this point, I think it is safe to say, we all long for our beloved island home to be fully restored to its previous splendor, but we now have an even greater, deeper love for one another and our community because of what we have collectively gone through and are triumphing over together.
We share something truly extraordinary. When we cross that bridge, we feel it: we exhale with a deep sigh of relief. It’s the sigh that signifies we’re home, whether you live here or not, you feel it. Sanibel is where we all know we truly belong, where we are loved and valued. That’s the spirit of Sanibel: it’s a spirit of love that is palpable, that lingers in the air. Let’s Love Sanibel Back together.”
