Moving Forward Update #5

Being A Very Real Help to One Another

St. Michael’s Hurricane Relief Fund

United in Love.

In the eye and aftermath of Ian, many of us have already personally experienced how God is a very real help in our times of need. Yes, God is right here, right now, and God is already working in and through each of us.

Many of you have expressed your longing to know how you can make a meaningful difference to the burdens of others during this challenging and difficult time. You inspired us to coordinate a way to harness how each of us can help by contributing either dollars, deeds (acts of service) or both.

In response, we have created The St. Michael’s Hurricane Relief Fund to restore our community of faith, our neighbors and our entire community to wholeness. We believe that Ian can be a catalyst to further Unite Us in Love.

Church leadership (vestry) will oversee the use of these funds for meeting the needs of our parishioners, the community and the property. Because of the magnitude of this disaster and the length of the recovery, the scope of these funds is broad. In addition to monetary gifts, we are setting up a “I have- I need” system to respond to people’s needs and to give people the opportunity to help.

Responding to this disaster is an opportunity to live the Way of Love that Christ modeled for us. As we have witnessed the heroic efforts of first responders and the military to rescue people, all the way to people delivering water to a neighbor in need, we have seen the compassion and abundant love of God in action.

So please join us by donating on our website .

And please forward this email and post on the social media platforms you use inviting others to be United in Love for our sanctuary island.

Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation in the church, and in Christ Jesus forever and ever.

Amen

Today's Excitement Dear Friends, Today was a day to celebrate! LCEC trucks arrived to install the new meter and energize it so the new HVAC system in the sanctuary can be started up! Then a couple hours later, we passed the City of Sanibel final inspection and we were given the Certificate of Completion; the final step in our permit process which started last May. We are very grateful to Councilwoman Holly Smith, City Manager Dana Souza and all the city and LCEC employees who assisted in these final steps and of course to all the FP workers and their subs for all their hard work these past several months and the Property Restoration Team; the working group was there to receive the good news today. We are very busy getting the spaces ready for opening weekend starting with our 4th Advent services this Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 8am and 10:30am (livestreamed). Then we will have 3 Christmas Services at 4pm, 8pm (livestreamed) and 10:30am. Thanks to the volunteer teams who have been washing dishes in the kitchen, putting books on the bookshelf, hanging wreaths and a 100 other details. It is a stunningly beautiful space and we can't wait for all to experience it again for the first time in 15 months! Bill +
