Hope Rising Update #56 - Special Edition

by Fr. Bill Van Oss

Dear Friends,

Usually the Hope Rising Update goes out on Wednesday, but I held off until today so I could share a special delivery that happened two hours ago. Our new church bus arrived at Peace Lutheran and I took it for a quick spin around the parking lot. I wanted you to be a part of its inaugural voyage so watch the video and enjoy.

Tours of the new bus will be held after the 11:30am service this Sunday at Peace.

Thanks to all who contributed to the All Angels Campaign, because of its great success we were able to make purchases like this bus which will provide transportation and connection for many people who otherwise could not participate in our church services and activities.

And more deliveries happened today, an altar, lectern and other items arrived from the Diocese that we will use at The Gathering Place, and the long awaited interior doors arrived for The Gathering Place too!  It was a very busy day on the campus filled with workers installing the flat portion of the roof on the main buildings, working on electrical, and painting the interior of The Gathering Place.  After the final finishes and flooring next week, we will start to move in and get the place ready for the church office to open and F.I.S.H. to start on Monday July 17. On Wednesday, July 19 we will have our first parish event, a night at the Movies hosted by Rev. Suzy. Our first services will be Saturday July 22 at 5pm followed by a social, and July 23 at 9:30am followed by coffee hour. Alleluia!

Peace,

Moving Forward Updates from Fr. Bill

By Fr. Bill Van Oss 20 Dec, 2023
Today's Excitement Dear Friends, Today was a day to celebrate! LCEC trucks arrived to install the new meter and energize it so the new HVAC system in the sanctuary can be started up! Then a couple hours later, we passed the City of Sanibel final inspection and we were given the Certificate of Completion; the final step in our permit process which started last May. We are very grateful to Councilwoman Holly Smith, City Manager Dana Souza and all the city and LCEC employees who assisted in these final steps and of course to all the FP workers and their subs for all their hard work these past several months and the Property Restoration Team; the working group was there to receive the good news today. We are very busy getting the spaces ready for opening weekend starting with our 4th Advent services this Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 8am and 10:30am (livestreamed). Then we will have 3 Christmas Services at 4pm, 8pm (livestreamed) and 10:30am. Thanks to the volunteer teams who have been washing dishes in the kitchen, putting books on the bookshelf, hanging wreaths and a 100 other details. It is a stunningly beautiful space and we can't wait for all to experience it again for the first time in 15 months! Bill +
