Hope Rising Update #44

by Fr. Bill Van Oss

Dear Friends,

We are in the midst of Holy Week, a time when we remember the sacrifice Jesus made for all and the hope His Resurrection brings to all. We will have a zoom Maundy Thursday Service at 6pm tomorrow, a Good Friday service at noon at Peace, and then Easter Services at 8:30am at the Sanibel Rec Center and 11:30am at Peace.

We are entering a resurrection season for St. Michael's as well. Initial prep work is being done as the repair permit moves through the city process so The Gathering Place can open as quickly as possible for on island worship, office space and community use. We are expecting proposals on Friday from two bidders for the restoration of our main building and the Restoration Team will be reviewing and then meeting with the companies next week.

We will have an update to give to everyone on
Sunday, April 16 after the service as we take flight and launch the All Angels Campaign to Restore our Spiritual Home.   Without you, “All” can never be all, so we hope you plan to come in person if you are in town, or attend via zoom.   It will be a time to rejoice as our spirits and sanctuary are being made whole. You will hear the vision, timing and budget for the project and how you can be part of history and help reclaim our spiritual home & belong to a greater purpose. Join us in person or in spirit by Zoom. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87213548353

Moving Forward Updates from Fr. Bill

By Fr. Bill Van Oss 20 Dec, 2023
Today's Excitement Dear Friends, Today was a day to celebrate! LCEC trucks arrived to install the new meter and energize it so the new HVAC system in the sanctuary can be started up! Then a couple hours later, we passed the City of Sanibel final inspection and we were given the Certificate of Completion; the final step in our permit process which started last May. We are very grateful to Councilwoman Holly Smith, City Manager Dana Souza and all the city and LCEC employees who assisted in these final steps and of course to all the FP workers and their subs for all their hard work these past several months and the Property Restoration Team; the working group was there to receive the good news today. We are very busy getting the spaces ready for opening weekend starting with our 4th Advent services this Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 8am and 10:30am (livestreamed). Then we will have 3 Christmas Services at 4pm, 8pm (livestreamed) and 10:30am. Thanks to the volunteer teams who have been washing dishes in the kitchen, putting books on the bookshelf, hanging wreaths and a 100 other details. It is a stunningly beautiful space and we can't wait for all to experience it again for the first time in 15 months! Bill +
