FOR RELEASE: Before Monday, February 10, 2020

HEAD: Noah’s Ark Presents Annual Fashion Show, ‘Sixty Years of Style’

Noah’s Ark is hard at work preparing for its 2020 fashion show extravaganza, “Sixty Years of Style,” to take place 1 p.m., Monday, February 10, at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church. The celebration commemorates the Church resale shop’s 60 successful years selling donated clothing, household items, small appliances, furniture, and sports equipment.

“Sixty Years of Style” features fashions currently on sale at the popular island thrift shop, as well as vintage outfits representing each of the Ark’s last 6 decades of operation—1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, 2000’s and 2010’s.

Liz Coffey and Robin Fidler, co-chairs of the event, are excited about the fashions to be modeled at the show. According to Coffey, Ark volunteers and other parishioners model active wear and lifestyle fashions, as well as festive evening costumes, “basically anything on sale that they love. The show is our way of thanking those who support the Ark,” she said.

“Sixty Years of Style” also includes door prizes featuring new items donated to the Ark. Music is provided by pianist and St. Michael’s parishioner Dr. Richard Mattern.

The church will use proceeds from last year’s fashion show to award grants to 23 local, national and international organizations. It will also will present a check to F.I.S.H., the Island’s important human services organization and food pantry.

St. Michael’s Priest-in-Charge Alan Kelmereit said, “We are delighted that the phenomenal success of the Ark, along with outreach money budgeted by the parish, enables St. Michael’s to award so many grants to critically important charities and causes.”

Refreshments are served after the show in the Parish Hall. All modeled clothing is offered for sale at that time. Doors to the show open at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Noah’s Ark is operated by the Women of St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church. More than 100 female and male volunteers work in the shop. Its hours are 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and the first Saturday each month. Its doors are also open 5 to 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
