New Children & Youth Sunday Schools
and
Teen Ministry at St. Michael’s

We are pleased and grateful to announce the formation of our new Children & Youth Ministry Team: John Talmage (Coordinator), Susie Wilson, Colleen Stoneman, and the Rector. Although there will be a “flow” between grade levels when necessary, depending upon the seasons of the Church Year and readiness of those involved, we’ll have two core groups forming: Children – grades PreK-3 and Youth – grades 4-6.

Children – Grades PreK-3
These children will participate in a hands-on approach to their faith called Godly Play. This program utilizes all of a child’s senses, creativity, and life stories to enable them to understand the beautiful stories of scripture. Godly Play is about meeting God along WITH children rather than teaching them what we adults think they ought to know. (Interesting that the outcomes are also deeply satisfying for adults as well!) Sundays, 9:30-10:15 a.m.
Youth – Grades 4-6
Youth in grades 4-6 will be involved in a program meant to delve deeper into their thoughts about their
faith, help them to articulate feelings and questions, participate in discussions, and have fun learning through games and storytelling. This will enable them to also participate in the worship service – which they enjoy each Sunday. (Sundays, 9:30-10:15 a.m.)
Teen Ministry – Grades 7-12
Teens will have a very different schedule and format from Children and Youth on Sundays. They will be meeting once or twice a month with the Rector and adult team; and in addition to planning outreach projects (first one is Habitat in Ft. Myers – Oct. 2), participating in worship services, movie and pizza nights, we will use the Episcopal curriculum of Journey to Adulthood (J2A). The Rector will be in touch with teens and their parents to establish meeting times. Next get together is December 7 at 5 p.m., location to be determined.
