A Different Advent Season

As we move through the church season of Advent; a time of waiting and hope; our world waits and hopes for an end to this pandemic. We will mark Advent in new and different ways this year. You can participate fully into this time of expectation and hope in your home. Whether you live alone or with others; there are several ways you can bring the season of Advent into your home.

Here are a few:

  • Living Well Through Advent-Practicing Hope with All Your Heart, Soul, Strength and Mind
This is a free devotional book written by several Episcopal authors and is available as a download, an e-book or a free print version can be ordered or you can sign up to receive a daily email during Advent with each day’s devotion. Printed booklets are available in the church office or when you stop by for Drive Thru Communion on Sunday.

  • One Thousand Days of Love - From Episcopal Relief and Development - Advent activities, including a craft for each week, a daily one page calendar to download, prayers and reflections and a special section on St. Nicholas and how he followed Jesus’ teaching to help the sick and needy.

  • Church Publishing is providing several free resources for Advent, including an Activity Pack for children and families (send to your grandkids!), the Womb of Advent meditations for adults, and the book Jesus God Among us.

  • Journeying the Way of Love Advent Curriculum: The Episcopal Church offers four sessions to be explored as we await the coming of Christ by moving through the first two chapters of the Gospel of Luke. Luke’s gospel provides a pattern for understanding how we can live the Way of Love as individuals, as families and friends, as a community, and out in the world.

  • A one page Way of Love for Advent calendar with a simple daily practice.
